Weekly Prompt---1---

Weekly prompt is a weekly prompt or discussion hosted by NewBooksNewBlogger. As written by the author of the blog-"The whole point of this prompt is to give bloggers an idea of something to blog about besides book reviews and giveaways." I think this idea of WEEKLY PROMPT is great.

Answer to this week's (#006) prompt topic-
I wish there was a movie based on The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I absolutely love the book. The characters are also very real. I would love to see the characters in the book come out on the screen. And just like the book, I'm sure the movie will be a BIG hit.

Waiting on Wednesday---2---

While browsing through TeenReads I came upon this book. The name itself was very fascinating. So when I saw the cover page, I was even more spellbound. It looked so captivating.I have to read this book and I hoping to buy it as soon as it comes out.It is The Betrayal of Maggie Blair by Elizabeth Laird.

Synopsis-
In seventeenth-century Scotland, saying the wrong thing can lead to banishment - or worse. Accused of being a witch, sixteen-year-old Maggie Blair is sentenced to be hanged. She escapes, but instead of finding shelter with her principled, patriotic uncle, she brings disaster to his door. Betrayed by one of her own accusers, Maggie must try to save her uncle and his family from the King's men, even if she has to risk her own life in the process.

Looks very interesting, doesn't it??
What are you Waiting for on Wednesday??

Review---The Lying Game by Sara Shepard

How would you feel if a prank you planned went wrong? If it became totally dangerous without you realizing that?
The Lying Game by Sara Shepard is about two twin sisters- Emma and Sutton. One dead and one alive. One who lived her life very lavishly and got everything she ever asked for, while the other who got kicked out of foster homes again and again. The author plays the part of Sutton, the dead twin, who is always watching over Emma. Unable to speak to Emma or protect her when required, Sutton follows her around in her spirit form. The problem here is that, Sutton doesn’t remember anything (who killed here, how she died, who are her friends and family etc), she just regains bits of her memory from following Emma around and by Emma’s actions. In search of her twin sisters murderer, Emma reaches Arizona  and pretends to be Sutton among Sutton’s friends and family (who haven’t yet realized that the real Sutton is missing). Will she succeed in finding the murderer? Or will she end up like Sutton? READ THE LYING GAME TO FIND OUT.
The important characters in the book other than sweet Emma and sassy Sutton are Sutton’s friends- Madeline, Charlotte, Lillian, Gabriella and Garrett (boyfriend)- and sister Laurel( who is really creepy). There’s not much I can write about the character’s without giving away the whole story.
I personally liked the book. It was a good read. But it was a little disappointing in the end when it left off as a big QUESTION MARK. A lot of my questions were left unanswered.
Maybe the second book in the series will satisfy me. That is just my opinion. Anyway overall it was fun to read the book. I’m waiting for the 2nd book to come out.
What did you think of the book or the review? Don’t forget to comment.
Thank You.

Review---Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard.

This is my third review.Hope you all like it. If you have any suggestions please don't hesitate to let me know. I would like to thank all the followers for taking the time to stop by blog and follow me. Thank You so much.

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard follows the lives of 5 best friends-Alison, Emily, Hanna, Spencer and Aria. Alison-the mist popular and beautiful girl in school, whom every guy wants to date-disappears one summer night. There’s no trace of where she went. No one knows anything (at-least they pretend not to) or maybe the do but everyone is tight lipped about the whole “Alison has disappeared” thing. Was she kidnapped? Did she run away? Was she murdered? The girls are completely clueless. All they know is that one moment Alison was playfully hypnotizing them and the next moment she was no where to be found. So many questions but no answer. Most importantly the girls think that with Alison’s disappearance their secrets are safe. But exactly 3 years after her disappearance, the girls start receiving notes from someone called A. The notes are all about the secrets that these girls individually shared with only Alison and no one else. In the small town of Rosewood, Pennsylvania everyone has something to hide, some secrets which either only they or a few others know. But now thanks to A the girls’ secrets were on the very edge of becoming public. Separated after Alison’s disappearance, the girls are brought back together because of A’s notes. Is Alison alive? Or is someone trying to fool around with them? And even if it is someone else, how in the world does he/she know about the girls’ dirty dark little secrets. Some little secrets, some large secrets and some out of the world secrets.
The characters are all great. Hanna is the new Queen bee after Alison’s disappearance. She is very outgoing, sweet and at moments very gullible. Aria who has just come back to Rosewood after living in Iceland is very artistic. She loves to write and maintains a Journal. I don’t really think she is much for school spirit. Emily is more of the athletic kind. She’s part of the swim team and she loved Alison as more than a friend. Spencer is the good girl-studying most of  the time. She gets A+ grades in all her assignments and has never failed in anything (Yeah! She’s a nerd.).
Once again this is a beautiful read. A very well written book, I must say. Sara Shepard-you rock!  I totally, absolutely, completely loved it. At the moment there are 8 books in the series and the 9th book is coming out sometime later this year. I recommend this book to all mystery-lovers and if you like the whole concept of Gossip Girl (anonymous text messages, Gossip Girl websites, an unknown person who keeps herself updated on everyone) then I’m sure you’d love this book too. Have a great read. If you’ve already read, please don’t forget to tell me what you think of the book.
Thanks.

Blog Hop---2---

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books every Friday-Monday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.
This weeks question is:
"If you could physically put yourself into a book or series...which one would it be and why?"
I would want to be in The Vampire Diaries because it is adventurous, thrilling, it has vampires in it,cute guys and so much more.I love all the characters(especially DAMON) and the parts they are playing. The story very much appeals to me.I wouldn't also mind  acting a part since there is a TV show based on the books.
What do you think?

2.I get really paranoid to see folds and tears in a new book.
3.If I really like a book,then I can't do anything else except read till I'm done.I get really addicted.
4.I usually buy books that appeal to me at first sight.Otherwise I don't really feel like reading them.
5.I keep hop-skipping genre to genre all the time.I can't read more than 3-4 books of the same genre back to back.

And when their mouths dropped open and they both started to speak, I held up my hand and said,"And, he's gone". "Gone?" they said. four eyes bugging, two jaws dropping, both of them reluctant to believe it. And even though I knew they were concerned, even though I knew I owed them an explanation, I just shook my head, pressed my lips together, and refused to say anything further.

Book Blogger Hop---1---

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy-for-Books every Friday-Monday. It's a great opportunity to network and visit other blogs and meet new bloggers.

This weeks question is:
"Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?"
I can't really stop reading one book and start another one till I know what happens in the end in the first book. I have to finish it before I move on to another story, totally different characters and a different storyline altogether. There was a time when I tried reading two books at a time but I got really curious as to what happens in the first book so I couldn't concentrate on  the second book.

What about you?

Review----The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

This is my second review in a row.I totally loved this book and so would you.Don't forget to tell me what you think of it.

How would you feel if you were always on the run? Always being chased? Never able to call a place your home?
This is the situation faced by Rose and Lisa in The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.
This book was recommended to me by my friend. When I saw this book in the library it was the cover page and the title name that caught my eye. I like paranormal books and also books about school life. This book has both so I got this book and couldn’t put it down till I finished the last page. Desperately hoping that there was a second book in The Vampire Academy installment, I turned the next page and found the first chapter of the 2nd book. I was so happy!! I went online and found out that there were six books in the series, but that’s besides the point. In this book the main characters are Rose Hathaway, Lisa Dragomir, Dimitri Belikov and Christian Ozera.
Rose Hathaway, a dhampir, has sworn to protect her best friend Lisa Dragomir, a Moroi princess. In the book , Rose has been made to look like the tough guy. The one whose face clearly says “you mess with me or my friends and I beat you into pulp”. She is  strong and has a really bad reputation in school for being involved in a lot of fights. Its like if there’s commotion and chaos in the school hall then Rose has to be involved. She’s a kind of person who can’t sit around and do nothing if a fight is going on or if someone needs help. But at the end of the day, this attitude of hers is what helps keep Lisa safe.
Lisa Dragomir is a very sweet, kind and loving character. She’s the most popular person in school, what with being the last of the Dragomir clan. But her popularity doesn’t get to her head and she mingles well with everyone and is ready to help anyone when she can.
Dimitri Belikov is Rose’s teacher (Man does she have the best teacher or what!!!!!). He’s one of the strongest guardians at school. Actually in my opinion, he’s the strongest of them all. He is considered s God in school with the perfect looks and strength.
Christian Ozera has been portrayed as the bad boy. For some reason (can’t mention it) everyone stays away from him. He has the I-Don’t-Care attitude to go with the careless and mostly expressionless exterior.
In the book there are two different types of vampires. The Moroi, who feed on willing donors for blood but don’t kill them. They each possess different elemental powers – Earth, Air, Water, Fire. In simple words they are the good ones. While the Strigoi are the bad kind. They kill in order to feed or sometimes they just kill someone to turn them into a Strigoi. This book is about Rose and Lisa’s experiences as they are dragged back to the academy.
It is a really captivating and mind-blowing read. I love all the characters in it. The characters are made so real that sometimes you feel like you’re part of the book and you’re watching all this happen in front of you. I have finished reading all the 6 books and I really wish the series didn’t have to end. But alas!!!
SO if you haven’t read the book please do read it. You will not get bored of it, I promise.
And for those who have read it how did you like it?? Are your views and opinions the same as mine??

Review---The Host by Stephenie Meyer

This is my first review. Hope you like it. I just recently read this book and I loved it.

When I first borrowed this book from my cousin, I wasn’t even sure if I’d finish reading it. Also having never read a Science-Fiction book didn’t help. But I decided to make an effort and start the book because of my love for The Twilight Series also written by Stephenie Meyer (She’s amazing!!!).
The story revolves around the two main characters-Melanie Stryder, the human host and Wanderer, the soul inserted into Melanie’s body –as they together go in search of Jamie, Melanie’s brother and Jared, the man she loves. Wanderer overcome by Melanie’s emotions and memories soon finds herself falling in love with Jared. Being different from the other souls who unhesitatingly serve their purpose, Wanda (as everyone calls her) is kept under constant scrutiny by her Seeker. But this doesn’t stop her from giving in to Melanie’s wishes and she faces all the obstacles that come in their way, undauntedly.
In the book Melanie and Wanda are portrayed as opposites, each coming up with totally different ideas on how to solve a problem.
There are a lot more characters in the book and I so badly want to write about all of them but that wouldn’t be fun for those of you, who haven’t read the book yet. Besides this being my first review, I don’t want to spoil it. So even if you’re not a Sci-Fi fan like me, I certainly recommend this book because it’s an amazing read from the very first chapter till the end.

Intro

Hey everyone!!!! I am Meera Nair/Mia.  know I love reading books and because of this love for reading/writing I decided to start blogging. This blog, Book Haven, is similar-in some ways- to all those 1000’s of other YA Book Blogs,  yet it is different in many ways to each one of them. I read books of different genres ranging from, paranormal to mystery, chicklit to adventure and a few non fiction books like Chicken Soup, History of Ancient Egypt and not to forget all the celebrity gossip magazines that I keep updating myself with. Other than Pride and Prejudice I haven’t read many classic novels  but I plan to start reading books of that genre too. Along with book reviews, book-alikes/recommendations, I would also be posting download links for some of the ebooks available for all of you to start reading.
So for all of that please do keep checking in here every week.
Until then,
